What are hormone pellets?
Hormone pellets are small, pressed caplets about the size of a grain of rice.

How are they administered?
The pellets contain hormones, generally either estradiol or testosterone. The pellets are implanted in the fatty tissue under local anesthesia and slowly dispense the correct hormone dosage over the next several months.

How do I get started with Hormone Pellet Therapy?

  1. Call 314.576.0094 or email md@privatemdstl.com to set up a consultation with Dr. Gelhot.
  2. During your consultation visit, Dr. Gelhot will determine whether this type of hormone therapy is right for you and will answer any questions you may have.
  3. If hormone therapy is right for you, you may be able to start therapy the next day, though it may take a few days after your first visit.

HORMONE BALANCING WITH PELLET THERAPY
 Benefits
Hormone pellet therapy can help many symptoms related to both menopause and andropause (male aging). Many people enjoy relief of many of the symptoms which are listed below, though hormone therapy isn't FDA-approved for all of them:

  • Hot flashes
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • "Fuzzy" thinking
  • Night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Irritability
  • Mood swings
  • Fatigue
  • Dry skin
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Loss of sex drive
  • Decreased libido
  • Urine leaks
  • Muscle loss
  • Weight gain
  • Headache
  • Depression
These hormones are identical to the hormones in the human body, so they are often called "bio-identical hormones." The FDA doesn't favor use of that term as they feel it implies these hormones are better than artificial hormones manufactured by large pharmaceutical companies.
